Living in La Axarquia
Life in Spain is generally much more relaxed than the UK and the cost
of living is generally a lot less also. Many people move to La Axarquia
Region because of the all year round sub-tropical climate (officially
the best in Europe) and the fact the Region receives over 300 sunny
days every year!
La Axarquia is the area to the East of Malaga (opposite direction to
say Marbella) and is an unspoilt, though popular, part of Spain. In
the summer tourists visit the coastal towns and in the winter the inland
mountain villages receive visitors who like to walk in Europe's highest
and most beautiful mountain ranges; the Alhama, Tejada and Almijara
Mountain Range. However, because of it's all year round great climate
coastal towns like Nerja and Torre Del Mar see a steady flow of relaxed
holiday makers and ex-pats alike from January through to December!
Unlike some of the larger towns along the Costa Del Sol, those of La
Axarquia tend to be frequented by a more gentile type of visitor and
resident. There are nightclubs and bars and the suchlike, but this isn't
all there is - there are Michelin Star restaurants, waterparks, Nature
Parks, Caves, Shopping Centres and of course fabulous beaches!
