| Axarquia has the unspoilt remainder
of the Costa del Sol. East from Malaga along several towns to just past Nerja
and inland to idyllic pueblos an hour or so away from the coast. It is varied
and provides all types of accommodation in all types of settings. You can
have a holiday apartment steps away from the coast and mixing with the locals
or a country home with no neighbors at all. The choices are all here in the
Axarquia region.
Many pueblos are still as they were years ago. The locals there still willing
to invite you to their homes and local fiestas. And yet, mod cons are only
a short drive away with the 2 commercial centers being spread in the middle
of the Region for access to all.
There is a variety of restaurants and bars along the coast and inland.
Traditional Spanish food can be found in all towns and villages. For those
wanting more variety or the taste of home, there is also English, Chinese,
Indian and many more cuisines to be sampled in some coastal towns. There
are many activities in the area to suit all, i.e. Golf, water parks, diving,
horse trekking, quad biking and many more. Of course, those of you looking
for a quiet life can still have it here too.
Many an outing can be planned to the local caves at Nerja, Skiing less
than an hour away and the Alhambra Palace in Granada, to mention just a
few.
The region is protected by the Alhama, Tejada and Almijara Mountain Range
and is said to have “the best weather in Europe”. The range
with it’s masterful Mount Maroma provides beauty as well as shelter.
Still unspoilt and only partly developed. There is still a good opportunity
to invest in the area or find the ideal home.
